Maintain perfect alignment,
while reducing the neck/shoulder strain.

“A forward-tilted head can weigh in at 10+ lbs of effective strain on your neck and shoulders. Instead of hovering unsupported, we transfer that load to the headrest — keeping your eyes locked on the optics, strain-free.”

A headrest keeps your eyes locked in the exact same spot relative to the optics, every time. No drifting, no re-centering, no losing your reference point during welding — just a consistent line of sight through the eyepieces to the work.

That consistency comes with a second, and maybe more important, benefit. An adult head weighs somewhere around ten to twelve pounds when it’s balanced vertically over the shoulders — but that’s not the position you're normally working in. Leaning your head forward to reach the optics tilts that weight out in front of your spine, and the further forward it goes, the more stress your neck and shoulder muscles have to support to hold it there.

Without the support of a headrest those muscles aren’t just holding a static load — they’re constantly making micro corrections. Every small drift of your head up, down, side to side, or in and out is unconsciously being corrected, over and over, hour after hour. That’s the fatigue that builds by mid-afternoon.

A headrest gives your head somewhere to rest instead of constantly hovering. As soon as your forehead rests on the pad the constant micro-adjusting stops — reducing the strain on those neck and shoulder muscles rather than asking them to fight it all day.

Without the headrest

Head unsupported. Your head and eyes drift while hovering over the eyepiece.

With the headrest

Head supported. Your head and eyes remain fixed while the work stays centered and in focus.

Install

Installing it

The headrest attaches cleanly to your optical head — no drilling and nothing permanent. The video walks through the whole install and it takes less than 5 minutes total.

Find your fit

Find your headrest

Start by selecting the optical head on your laser welder. The optical head is the assembly you look through on your laser welder. The optical head you have will determine which one of the four models you need to purchase.

How to choose
1

Look at the optical head installed on your laser welder and then SELECT the matching optical head below by clicking the image.

* You are not purchasing an optical head — you are purchasing a headrest built to fit the optical head already installed on your laser welder. Leica and Clearview are trademarks of their respective owners. Intuitive Tool LLC is not associated with, affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any optical head or laser welder manufacturer. Brand names appear here only to help you identify the optical head already installed on your machine.

Step 2 — your headrest

One Settings Sphere is included with every headrest — choose Natural Lambswool or Gel-Pad by clicking one of the images to the right.
Choose your Settings Sphere — one is included

The Settings Sphere is where the height, angle and depth are set for one person's fit. Select either — Natural Lambswool or Gel-Pad. Both use the same Settings Sphere, so pick the surface you prefer.

Step 3 — have more than one user?

Need an additional Settings Sphere?

The headrest is made for shops with more than one user: additional Settings Spheres can be changed out in around 5 seconds. Some users prefer to have their own due to not only specific settings but also for hygiene reasons.
