FAQ

Questions, answered.

The questions every customer asks before signing up — and a few that come up later too. Can't find yours? Just ask.

The product

Yes. The mic we specify is noise-rejecting, and we calibrate sensitivity for your specific shop during setup. Voice recognition is push-to-talk via foot pedal, so Laser Assistant only listens when you choose. We've validated against shops with grinders, polishers, and other typical bench noise.
Yes. Laser Assistant needs a working internet connection — almost every shop has one already, so it's typically not a barrier. The upside of this design: when we ship a new feature or fix, it reaches you the next time you use the welder, with no operator action required. If your internet drops, your laser welder still works the way it always has — you just use it the traditional way until Laser Assistant is back online.
Audio is captured by the Laser Assistant software on your welder PC and sent securely to our servers for processing. We use it only to respond to your commands and we don't share, sell, or use it for any other purpose. See our privacy policy for the full statement.
Works fine. The voice model is speaker-independent — it doesn't need to be trained per person. Anyone at the bench can speak commands. The voice language is per-machine (English, Spanish, Italian, and French) and switchable from the portal or by voice.
Check it on our Compatibility page, or tell us your welder make and model and we'll confirm within one business day. We support a growing list of welders and add models based on customer demand.
Pick it on the Compatibility page and become a beta tester, or reach out — we add machines based on customer demand. Telling us what you have gets you on the priority list.

Pricing & billing

Not right now — onboarding is free for a limited time (normally a one-time $95.00 per machine). It pays for a technician to remotely install the Laser Assistant relay application on your laser welder so it can connect to our server. The offer is per machine: each laser welder is its own subscription and gets its own free onboarding. The fee is one-time: any later reinstall on that same machine under the same subscription is covered, such as when the welder's PC is replaced or a manufacturer firmware update needs a fresh install.
Both terms will be offered. Annual suits shops that would rather handle it once a year; monthly exists if you'd rather pay as you go. Final figures for each term are still being set.
You're billed for your chosen term — annual or monthly — and keep access through the period you've paid for. You can manage your subscription and switch plans from your account portal anytime.
There's no open free trial, because every install takes real setup time. From time to time we offer a trial code — if you have one, enter it at checkout, and the trial starts the day your welder goes live rather than the day you pay. Without a code, our refund policy protects you: if Laser Assistant can't be made to work on your machine, or you report a problem within 14 days of setup and we can't fix it, we refund your subscription.

Setup & support

Typically within a week of signup. We reach out within 2 business days to schedule the install, which takes 60–90 minutes. See how setup works.
There's a "Report an issue" button on every page of your customer portal. It auto-captures context (which tab, what you were doing, your account, your Laser Assistant version) and sends it straight to our team. Support is handled through the website user portal.
Laser Assistant checks in with our servers when your welder PC starts up, and stays connected while it runs. If a release is waiting — software update, new voice replies, new language pack — it downloads silently. You'll see new commands or improvements show up; we'll usually tell you in an email what's new.
Your laser welder still works the way it always has. Laser Assistant temporarily stops responding to voice until your connection is back. Operator falls back to traditional controls — same buttons they used before Laser Assistant, still right there on the welder. No disruption to actual welding work.

Languages

English, Spanish, Italian, and French. Load any of the four and Laser Assistant listens and replies in that language — switchable by voice or from the portal. We add languages based on customer demand; if you need another, tell us.
Voice language is one setting per machine — but it's switchable anytime from the portal, and can even be changed by voice command. If you have a multilingual shop, operators flip the language as needed.
Yes. Customer portal interface is available in English, Spanish, Italian, and French — independent of the welder's voice language, so your portal can be one language while the operator speaks another.
